A bit of sewing

A bit of an up-date on what I achieved over the weekend!

(Sorry about the quality of the photo - the light was surprisingly bright for a cool winter morning)

These squares were made from leftover scraps. They are going on the back of another quilt.

Pretty amazing really - they came together so easily!

Could make for an interesting design for a complete quilt. I will let that bubble away in my already busy brain and see what eventuates.

And this is going to be a doll quilt - even though I am not officially 'swapping'!
I love using up all those scraps!

Just another excuse to buy more fabric!

And this is what they were sewn on - I got a NEW machine! This baby is going to help me learn to machine quilt.

Then all those UFO's will be finished!

Process and Progress

Have spent a productive day sewing!

But not ready to share just yet!

But this will give you a clue!

This is my attempt at a zig-zag quilt, but constructed the easy way.

It is rectangles pieced in lines, on the diagonal.

I am also making a doll quilt (although not officially participating) from the scraps (that's what the first photo is showing!)

So I am honouring the Process Pledge!

Have a great weekend!

The process pledge

Yes! I am more than happy to show the process, the design, the inspiration!

Mum's Medallion

Laid up with the flu! A good opportunity to post!

This is more of my medallion quilt, which I was making for my Mum when she passed away over four years ago.

Time to finish it.

I would really love some ideas to what I might add to the next 'round'; or is it a 'border'?

I'm thinking it needs a narrow green border before the addition of something more interesting. (Then some more leaves and vines with stronger detail?)

Half square triangles?

Perhaps some of Jodie's Double Hour Glass?

Then the maths becomes the real problem!

I'd love to hear your views or ideas to help me progress some more.

Happy Days!

Green Day (With a bit of pink thrown in)

Firstly, another piece to the pie!

What better way to celebrate World Environment Day than share one of my favourite
colour combinations-

Green and Pink!

I have my dear Mum to thank for this obsession.

These were the colours that she loved to use in her home decorating and I can remember many a cushion cover, curtains, paint effect and bedspread from my childhood.

In fact the photo (above) was of a piece I was working on nearly five years ago, when she passed away.

I do like a quilt which includes some other stitchery - blanket, chain and herringbone featured here. Kinda gives it an extra dimension, don't cha think?

Mum never got to see this but I think she would have liked it.

It's probably time to get it finished!

Originally it was to be a cushion cover, but I have decided it will look better as a centre for a

border type quilt.

(More photos soon, when some more definite design ideas are in place. )

Have a happy Sunday!

Another Piece of the Pie

This is what the Pie Quilt looks like so far.

Can't wait to get it finished!

I have loved making it but there does some a time when a quilt is just screaming to be finished!
A rather wonky photo of the latest pie piece.

The photo is not only wonky but so is the piecing!

Just as well I haven't stitched it down to the background yet!

Happy stitching!

Pie Piecing

Hi friends and followers,

Feeling a little like I have had my left hand chopped off! (YES- I'm left handed)

My sewing machine is off on holiday and I am hand piecing!

This is one of my efforts for the weekend!

I have only another five of these planned before the Pie Quilt is almost complete. It can then be ticked off my 'must finish' list for 2010.

Don't you just love that orange spot!

Back to work and see you soon!
