A Winner!

How lucky am I?

I won a giveaway!

Here!

Check out her lovely blog and pretty cross stitch buttons!

She has an Etsy store too.

This photo is unrelated to my win but still 'crafty' and hopefully worth sharing.

(Needed to make this page look pretty somehow!)

I spied this window display (sorry about the reflection) in the Louis Vuitton window in Paris

recently.

Cute, hey!

And this photo is also of thread, displayed in a stairwell in a Melbourne restaurant called

"Seamstress".

The building

was once used as a dressmaking factory.

There is something about the glossy, shiny texture and rich color of thread that makes it really

interesting, don't you think?

Have a happy day,

A new quilt

I have made a new quilt!

My 'wax' girl is having a baby!

What better reason to make a new quilt!

This design is called "Puss in the Corner"

I made this in rows, rather than blocks.

Wanted a more scrappy look!

Comments please???

Apologies if this post appears twice. The other one (longer and more detailed) was 'scheduled'

but some how has got

lost (for the time being?) in cyber space or time.

Doll Quilt

This is what I have been working on.

Not sure of what the pattern is called, but it pops up quite often on various blogs.

Although I am not officially participating in the current Doll Quilt Swap #9 I thought I would give something a try.

Had lots of scraps left from my recent zig zag quilt, so rather than packing them away, and adding even more fabric to the stash, I decided to try to use them up.

I am more than happy with the result. It is a little brighter than I would normally use, but it is good to get out of one's comfort zone!

I am now going to try to machine quilt it on my new machine. After I get some practice in!

I'm heading back to the sewing machine.
Can't believe I am making another new quilt!

Have a good day!

Process and Progress

Have spent a productive day sewing!

But not ready to share just yet!

But this will give you a clue!

This is my attempt at a zig-zag quilt, but constructed the easy way.

It is rectangles pieced in lines, on the diagonal.

I am also making a doll quilt (although not officially participating) from the scraps (that's what the first photo is showing!)

So I am honouring the Process Pledge!

Have a great weekend!

REFLECTIONS Scarf Festival

I posted my child's scarf originally back here.

I have entered it into a festival - not a competition although there is some element of that to it.

Did it for the experience mainly!

In the end, I really enjoyed the process - lots of design decisions were made along the way, that, thankfully, didn't cause too much angst.
My scarf has a range of vintage and modern fabrics, mini yo-yos, herringbone, running and cross-stitch, and self made fringing.

The Reflections Scarf Festival begins on Saturday (19th June - 25th July) in Geelong.

I suggest you spend a cold Victorian winter's day being warmed by the scarves made by many talented crafts people.

I am sure you will be impressed!

This is my friend Pam's scarf!

Don't you love the strong vibrant colour combination?
(In real life it is a beautiful olive green and a strong purple)
The colours and design reflect Pam's Scottish heritage. The scarf has these amazing "peaks" representing the Highlands.

This scarf certainly makes me happy!

I will up-date you when I have been to visit in a few weeks time.

Green Day (With a bit of pink thrown in)

Firstly, another piece to the pie!

What better way to celebrate World Environment Day than share one of my favourite
colour combinations-

Green and Pink!

I have my dear Mum to thank for this obsession.

These were the colours that she loved to use in her home decorating and I can remember many a cushion cover, curtains, paint effect and bedspread from my childhood.

In fact the photo (above) was of a piece I was working on nearly five years ago, when she passed away.

I do like a quilt which includes some other stitchery - blanket, chain and herringbone featured here. Kinda gives it an extra dimension, don't cha think?

Mum never got to see this but I think she would have liked it.

It's probably time to get it finished!

Originally it was to be a cushion cover, but I have decided it will look better as a centre for a

border type quilt.

(More photos soon, when some more definite design ideas are in place. )

Have a happy Sunday!
