QUILT COMPLETE!!

This is the back of my first machined quilt- done by ME!

Don't look too close! It's far from perfect!

I know I have blogged about this before, but I am so thrilled to have completed this one by my new Juki!

Can you see the quilting? I hope not because its in 'the ditch'!

Love that spotted binding! Really enjoyed hand sewing the binding on to finish it off!

Also great to have another quilt finished. Even my darling husband commented on its bright colors and how it might look on our dining table!

Have a great day !

Latest Creations

Thought I'd share with you what I have been working on recently.

I decided to do some cross stitch while I was away, as I am participating in an embroidery bee.
Not sure what this will become, but I did enjoy the challenge of using linen, rather than aida.

This is a needle case which I have also made for a swap. I managed to put it together today, completely from start to finish, on this wet, Melbourne Sunday!

Gotta love that!

I'm not going to put it on my flickr page just yet, don't want to spoil the surprise. I think I will post it off and then wait til it's arrived!

The color is not quite true; it is a little brighter than this! There is also a sneak peak of the pink, dotty spot inside!

Below is a close-up of the bee I purchased on my recent trip to Paris. (Glad I bought two!) I think it adds something special to the needle case. I hope the recipient likes it!

I even managed some simple hand quilting before I finished it off.

Have a great day,

Green Day (With a bit of pink thrown in)

Firstly, another piece to the pie!

What better way to celebrate World Environment Day than share one of my favourite
colour combinations-

Green and Pink!

I have my dear Mum to thank for this obsession.

These were the colours that she loved to use in her home decorating and I can remember many a cushion cover, curtains, paint effect and bedspread from my childhood.

In fact the photo (above) was of a piece I was working on nearly five years ago, when she passed away.

I do like a quilt which includes some other stitchery - blanket, chain and herringbone featured here. Kinda gives it an extra dimension, don't cha think?

Mum never got to see this but I think she would have liked it.

It's probably time to get it finished!

Originally it was to be a cushion cover, but I have decided it will look better as a centre for a

border type quilt.

(More photos soon, when some more definite design ideas are in place. )

Have a happy Sunday!

Bloggers Quilt Festival

I am hoping this works- I am joining the Bloggers Quilt Festival @ Amy's Creative Side! But I am not too sure what to do from here!
So stay tuned! I am really only a learner who is displaying all my 'trial and error' for all the whole world to see!
This is a hand pieced and hand quilted quilt which I made over 15 years ago !
And in those the only batting was polyester, that's why its so "puffy"!

But I still love it!

Hello!

The first day of the rest of your life - or the first day on your new blog! Here goes! Hi and welcome to my blog! I am a seamstress (Yew, what an old fashioned word!) with over thirty years of amateur, very amateur, sewing experience who just wants another challenge of sharing my ideas and projects.
As this is my first day, I am keeping it brief, to just see how things go!
